Q: Who takes care of these 31 children?
A: The children are cared for by a staff that includes a woman by the name of Dieudonne Batraville. She was born in St. Marc, Haiti and lives in Almonte, Ontario when she comes home to Canada. Dieudonne was the Field Director for St. Marc, Haiti for many years and along with her staff, implemented many systems (health care, education etc..) within the community to help people become self-sufficient. She has been in St. Marc since the earthquake struck in January 2010 and the orphanage is above and beyond her call of duty. She has taken on the responsibility of caring for 31 orphaned/abandoned children and with the help of people like you, she will be able to keep them at the Centre Vie orphanage. The kids are happy here and are recovering from the trauma they have experienced. Your financial assistance will help provide them with continued education, good nutrition, clothing, shelter, and a nurturing environment.
Q: How do I know that all of my money goes to the kids?
A: First Baptist Church - Smiths Falls has spent many hours researching Dieudonne's work and her intentions for the children at Centre Vie. They feel confident in the decision to support this ministry. Any money that is sent to the church goes directly into a bank account that Dieudonne has set up for the orphanage. See the file at the bottom of this page for further confirmation of funds sent.
Q: Will I get a tax receipt for my monthly contributions?
Yes. First Baptist Church - Smiths Falls will mail you a tax receipt at the end of the calendar year. There needs to be a minimum $20 contribution/donation though.
Q: Can I pay by Visa, Mastercard or Automatic Withdrawl?
We are set up to receive donations through this website via Paypal. You can use Visa, Mastercard, or your Paypal account when donating online. You can purchase a "Gift of Hope" or make a donation on the donation page, using either your Paypal account or a credit card. If you are sponsoring a specific child, monthly contribtions for your sponsored child must be in the form of cash, cheque or post-dated cheques with a note that the money is for your sponsored child at Centre Vie.
